WOMS UNIFORM POLICY

High standards of dress promote good citizenship and a positive, wholesome, and safe learning environment. The appearance of our student body reflects upon the climate of our school. Students are required to adhere to standards of dress and grooming that are acceptable in a positive learning environment. Teachers and administrators have discretion in making judgments relating to the appropriateness of dress, to include jewelry. All students will be held to the same uniform standards.

TOPS

  • Solid colored Polo or Oxford Style shirts are acceptable

    • White, Royal Blue, Gray, Black

  • Shirts should be free of decoration or ornament. A small symbol in the corner is acceptable.

  • Shirts should be tucked in at all times. 


BOTTOMS

  • Students may wear solid tan, black or navy uniform style pants, capris or shorts, uniform dresses, skirts/skorts

  • Shorts, dresses, skirts/skorts  must reach the knee

  • Denim or joggers (even if it is black or tan) are not allowed

  • Tight/form-fitting uniform pants are not acceptable

  • Students may not wear athletic style pants/shorts on top or under their uniform pants.

 OUTERWEAR

  • Cardigans, sweaters,  sweatshirts, (WOMS Logo only or solid white, royal blue, gray, or black) may be worn in class

  • School spirit paraphernalia will be sold by the school

  • Hoods will not be allowed on the head inside of the school building

SHOES 

  • Students may wear any type of tennis shoes, as long as they have a rubber bottom. Crocs may be worn in sports mode only.

  • The following shoes are not acceptable: hard-bottom shoes, Sandals of any form, open-toe shoes, slides, boots of any kind, and bedroom/shower style slippers.

ACCESSORIES

Students can wear:

  • Earrings that are not a distraction

  • Small nose rings are acceptable – studs only

  • Lanyards that are placed in the shirt for security

  • Belts should be worn at all times

  • Young men and women can wear neckties/bow-ties if partnered with a uniform Oxford shirt.

  • Plain navy, white, or black stockings are acceptable.

  • Make-up should be minimal and not distractive.

ACCESSORIES

Students can NOT WEAR: 

  • Scarves, rags, bandanas or wrap-caps on their heads or in their pockets

  • Scarves on the body during the school day

  • Distractive body piercings and  jewelry of any kind

  • Clothes with chains hooked that are connected to them

  • Spiked jewelry, bull rings in the nose (unless for religious reasons)

  • Hats, of any form

  • Stickers and face paintings

  • Any other ornament deemed inappropriate by administration

BACKPACKS/PURSES/SATCHELS

  • All backpacks should be made of clear plastic or mesh/net material and shall be placed in the locker each day 

  • Backpacks must be secured in the locker upon arrival and remain until dismissal

  • Purses should be no larger than a textbook, if it is taken in the classroom.

PE UNIFORMS

Tops:  Must be white, blue, black, or gray. 

T-Shirts must not be see-through

  • No tank tops or spaghetti straps

  • Shirts must cover the stomach/midriff

Bottoms:  Must be blue, gray or black.  

Shorts-must be at or near the knee

  • Warm-up/athletic pants may be worn

  • No tights or leggings allowed

Footwear:  Athletic shoes must be worn and properly laced.  No crocs are allowed during gym class

Please Note:

We cannot allow students to dress in a manner which disrupts or distracts others from learning. Final judgment is left up to school administrators in matters concerning compliance with dress code and those items not specifically covered in this policy.

Student Dress Code Violations

1st offense: Student Conference/Documentation

2nd offense: Parent phone call/Documentation

3rd offense: Parent phone call/ Team Discipline

(ie. lunch detention, loss of team/school privileges, Team ISS etc.)

4th offense: Administrative Referral


After receiving 4 or more uniform offenses, students may be subject to loss of privileges such as attending after school activities.

Uniform compliance will begin the first day of school.
