New guidelines make 10:45 am the official time that determines if a student is counted present or absent for the school day.

Students who check-out prior to 10:45 am, or check-in after 10:45 am will be counted as absent for the school day.  Of course we believe it is in the best interest of the student to be at school, even if they are officially considered absent.

Be mindful of the following issues;

  • Students who are absent cannot participate in athletics, nor other after school activities, such as attending athletic events as a spectator, clubs or school dances, for that day.
  • Unexcused absences are tracked by our school’s Social Worker, and can cause problems with North Carolina’s compulsory attendance laws.
