Make a Choice Week
Published by Clint Williams on February 3, 2014

On January 27, 2014, selected Westover Middle School students had the opportunity to tour the “Choice Bus” in observance of “Make a Choice Week” held  January 26 – February 1, 2014. During the tour stop, students boarded the bus to see a presentation that addressed the relevancy of education to career choices and lifetime earning potential. Midway through the presentation, a full-scale replica of a prison cell was revealed. Organizers say this powerful revelation shows students how education – and the lack of education – is connected to making good and bad choices. Thereafter, the Choice Bus staff  lead the students in discussions about the importance of education, choosing friends wisely, avoiding gangs, being respectful of others, and having a career interest.
